For my daughter Celeste

I wrote this just over a year ago when I wasn't able to see my beautiful daughter for a while. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to hold your child in your arms, even if its only a few times a month -- I wouldn't trade the feeling for anything in the world... now on to my poem:
It's not your fault, baby girl
That me and mommy didn't work out;
You're all that matters to me,
You're all I care about.
When you get older,
You can come and ask me;
Daddy won't lie to you
He'll tell you what happened truthfully.
From the first time I saw you
I fell right in love;
You're like a little angel
Sent to me from above.
When you look at me
My heart begins to melt;
And when you smiled,
Unconditional love is what I felt.
Daddy's sorry he can't be there,
He had to leave for awhile;
But he promises that one day
He'll walk you down the aisle.
You're just too precious
For me to forget;
You're too young right now;
You don't know me yet.
When Daddy sees you again
He's gonna hold you real tight.
He's gonna give you a big hug
And tell you it'll be alright.
Daddy wants you to know one more thing
Before he is through
You're Daddy's little girl
And he'll always love you!
