Have your own home theater?
Ummm.... Guys, gals, this is extortion. And they are trying to push this through the government now without anyone noticing. Sure, less and less people go to movies now. But it's not because they can have the same experience at home, its because of the expense of going out to the movies.
Okay, sure you can have a 60 inch TV at home and surround sound, but unless you are exorbadantly wealthy you are not going to have over 200 inches let alone several stories of screen and a THX tuned surround sound system with thousands of watts of power.
On the other hand, $40 to go to two hours of entertainment is ridiculous. The average couple don't spend $40 at a bar in two hours ($5 per drink/2 drinks per hour/2 people).
Sure everywhere is different, and there are different costs associated with going and doing different things, but $10 per ticket plus the concessions (which are the price they are because of the money the movie makers squeeze out of the theaters, its the only way for the theaters to survive -- you'd be suprised how little the theaters actually make from the ticket sales).
So I make a call out to you, if you have two comfortable chairs in your living room, have purchased a TV in the last 20 years or so meaning it has stereo, and your TV happens to be over 29 inches -- you should be jumping on the band-wagon to say something about this. Whether its true or not, these people that make this satire aren't far from the truth.
